Tell Your Story!
Santa Cruz County Public Library Days
September-December 2004

This past fall, Lasting Voices offered services to the public free of charge at a monthly interview day at the Santa Cruz County Public Library. Private life history interview sessions lasted about 90 minutes and were available on a first-come-first-served appointment basis to all members of the community. Participants received a high quality CD recording of the interview. Our goal was to provide an opportunity for people to recount favorite experiences and to encourage sharing and listening. Sponsored by Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries.

"My Greatest Adventure in Life":
Recorded Tales from Downtown Santa Cruz Seniors
A not-so-ordinary community CD
May 15th-May 31st 2004

In Spring 2004, Lasting Voices recorded 10-minute true-life tales from 13 vibrant, interesting elders who attend the senior programs at the Louden Nelson Community Center in downtown Santa Cruz. The community was able to listen to these fascinating memories at free public listening stations set up at the Louden Nelson Center, Gatweways Books and Gifts and Borders Bookstore through Memorial Day weekend.

Hear an interview Deanna Zachary conducted with us about this project on Talk of the Bay, KUSP Public Radio, May 4, 2004.
